Heard lots of shooting early this morning so I jumped on my bike and rode down along Baseline to find out what all the excitement was about. OK, so I'm not a native and wasn't aware that this is the opening morning of Dove season. Sounded like a war going on back in the brush.

Phew! That wakes ya up first thing in the morning. Went for a ride along Baseline and returned on Southern for a small loop to test out the weather, bike and most of all, the rider
Got some work to do on this old Wal Mart special that I picked up for Arizona riding, gotta work like heck just keep up 10 mph on the flat ground (when ya can find flat ground). Feels good though to be out riding again.

Walking distance from my house. An interesting geologic formation and an easy way to kill an hour. There was a half-buried shopping cart sticking out of a fissure about ten feet deep, like the ground just swallowed it up.

The west fissures south of Baseline are totally trashed with illegal dumping. The fissures to the east are relatively clean, some 20-30 feet deep with cracks and tunnels going deeper. An interesting developing story. The university is monitoring the fissures and survey stakes can be seen around the area.
