| no partners | | Got started around 0915 and made my way over to Gila Trail. Light drizzle to start. Crossed paths with @johnlp and chatted with him for a few minutes. Continued west on Gila, where it started to get breezy at the saddle, so the umbrella got stashed for the rest of the hike.
Headed up Bursera to National, then east on National. Breezy and drizzly all the way to Goat Hill, where it finally became very windy. Shortly after that, heavier rain started and lasted for the next few miles. Uneventful descent down Pyramid, where the rain finally stopped just before I reached the bottom. The final mile on the flats was actually a little warm.
Perfect loop for a rainy day—the entire route has good footing, even on wet rocks, so the chances of slipping are minimal. Saw about eight hikers and three bikers. Great day, and a good start to the year. |
