1 of 3 Hikes I did yesterday and I actually sort of did this one twice. I did the short loop the first time and recorded a track for it and then I did the long loop and attempted to record that track. Something happened with RS on the long loop and it failed to record 90% of the hike. Wouldn't be the first glitch of the day for RS unfortunately. :(

I have been replacing shoes the last few months and needed to break in 3 pair. I started on 1 of them a few weeks ago, but needed to change out the insole for more comfortable wear. Thus the multiple short hikes on this day. 1 set of shoes for each hike. For the two loops around the Wildlife Area, I was retrying the Backpacking Boots with new insoles. Way better and the boots are breaking in some. Almost ready for a short backpack at least.

I got a late start leaving the barn, so my hopes of Deer and Elk and most wildlife was dashed since the sun had been up for an hour. But I think I got my yearly quota of squirrel and especially chipmunk shots. Found a Badger Den and got some birds along the way. The Paved Trail is really nice. People that need wheels for mobility will really enjoy this trail. The longer dirt trail is almost as smooth in most spots with very little elevation change. Someone with a cane even, could do this trail. I could most certainly do it with crutches. I did the Mall of America that way one time and probably got in more mileage than this.

Nice Area and if I was around here looking for something short, I would do it again. I could see even taking my Mom on the short loop, she'd be just fine with her walker.

Lupine, Vetch and even Fleabane is doing well. Some yellow and white thrown in too.
