Carr Loop, now labeled Carr Lake Loop by the Forest service, is nearly entirely on Forest Roads now closed to motorized vehicle travels. A bit more excitement was found by adding the General Crook trail looped with Boulder Hop.

Highline Trail #31 ~ 260 TH to Drew
The nicest forested 4.3 mile section of #31.

Drew Trail #291
Always a sweet lil ascent.

Aspen Trail #411
Pleasant, nothing to write your congressman or home about.

Carr Trail #414
Don't blink or you'll miss it. Similar named TH and peak in the Ancha, historical?

General Crook Trail #140
Bruce suckered me on this one again. He gloated by messaging and disrespectfully waking up Denny. Later, on another crook segment, Bruce called his brother and told me my phone was ringing.

Woods Canyon Lake Trail
Snazzy lake action. Did my best to annoy Bruce humming the theme song from Meatballs.

Woods Canyon
Creeks, aka wet slip hazzards have mostly been avoided for a solid year. Least favorite segment of this loop for my lack of balance/vision. Most would enjoy and find it easy.

Rim Lake Vista Trail #622
Still an underrated winner. Hwy buzzing rips the britches off the purist so it's just you and team selfie. Felt like an earth shattering 7 sentence description in '97 when I wrote it up. Low and behold it didn't render me a legend in dominica so I passed the member driven baton on six years ago.

Military Sinkhole Trail #179
A first for me. Wow. Unexpected tight forest throughout. Now my second favorite rim connector after [ West Webber Trail #228 ]

Synopsis
Enjoyed this loop much more than anticipated. Probably shouldn't have weezled outta past loops, just figured it was a cabin(cough) moguled yawner.

I've done variations of this loop in the past. You can make it as little as 12 miles or stretch it out with the big boys.

Highline Trail #31 - Starting about 8am from the 260 TH, we were the 4th vehicle in the lot. I enjoy this stretch of the Highline. Mostly tree covered as is rollercoasters over almost 4-1/2 miles to the Drew Trail. There are great views to the Rim.

Drew Trail #291 - This is a steady climb on a mostly tree covered trail. You gain 800' in a mile. There is a nice break spot at the top to dry off.

Aspen Trail #411 - This winds through the Carr Lake Campground before meeting up with the General Crook #140 for a bit. Mostly flat to rolling terrain.

From here we headed on an easy off trail, down Woods Canyon, west to east.

Woods Canyon Lake Trail - We meet up with the trail on the west end of the lake. There were plenty of people enjoying the day on the lake and on the trail here. We opted for the use trail that skirts the lake vs. the official trail.

At the dam, we continued down canyon for another 2 miles before jumping out to an unnamed canyon. From here cross country'd it, to meet up with the General Crook trail again

Rim Lakes Vista Trail #622 - Some parts of this heading south right off of FR300 are hard to follow because of recent logging. When you first reach the rim, there is a brand new cell tower. The trail along the rim has some top notch views. This a a great Rim Sampler trail for introducing out of town guests or casual hikers to the othe Arizona.

Military Sinkhole #179 - Heading off the rim and back to the 260 TH there was 2.25 miles remaining, starting as an old road, it turns off and on to a single track. It takes you through old growth pines and even a few stands of maples.

Over all excellent weather. There was a 60% chance of showers on the day and bringing the rain gear and umbrellas paid off as insurance. No rain ever got close.
