Good creek flow with icy waterfalls.
Met a mountain biker as I was heading down ... that was a first on this trail.
White-tail buck spotted on the drive out.

Dairy and Sawmill area were beautiful!
Green everywhere with apples and grapes coming in nicely.
Jacobson canyon had a bit of running water and I encountered a family of Mexican spotted owls (a first for this area).
Also took a short drive down Twilight Road and rode out about a half hour monsoon downpour.
Another short stop at RTM CG and the Deadman Curve overlook before leaving the mountain.
Good Time
:D

Started from the Noon Creek Picnic area. Could hear the roar of the creek below as soon as I got out of the truck, big snow melt flow is on!
Up #302A :next: off-trail half way up down into the canyon to the "slabs" :next: up canyon to the upper crossing :next: 2 hour sit camp for the scenery :next: back along the loop trail :next: Swift Trail to RTM CG :next: back down to the picnic grounds.
Noon Creek was flowing strong!
Had to play the risk vs reward game in the canyon due to the flow. I missed out on a few of the falls, but lived to hike another day.
Upper crossing was a challenge, had to think it out for a bit, made it across and without sliding down into doom.
Lots of big snow patches left, especially on the southern section.
Happy with my choice today, Nooner looked awesome throughout!

Another pre-sunrise start, I'm getting good at this early am stuff!
The bunnies are now playing frogger on the Swift Trail, many have lost.
Counter-clock loop starting from Noon Creek Picnic Area.
Knee high grass all the way up, place has really greened up.
Upper creek crossing full of wildflowers, everything wet from the rains & good creek flow.
1 hour nature sit break at the waterfall.
Lower 1/2 down just as good.
I always enjoy this trail, it makes me happy!

1st trip
Sun up to sun down day trip starting from the top at Ladybug Saddle and working my way down the Swift Trail to the bottom. Ladybugs-spotted owls-berries-apples was the plan ..... 1 out of 4 accomplished :|

Ladybug Peak - Not 1 single bug on top, where are they?
Bear Canyon - Hiked the upper trail down from Ladybug to the Bear/Dutch T. Always an enjoyable scenic stretch down with many very nice places to camp. Had a real nice 2 hour hammock camp here before returning back up to the saddle.
Dutch Henry - Ole Dutch has seen better days, could only get about .25 mile down the path before the mountain starts to reclaim it. This is where the spotted owls live and I believe FS will never (I've heard) repair this trail to help further protect them. No owls found on this once outstanding trail.
Twilight Spring - Drove down to Twilight road and hiked in to the spring. The biggest patches of wild raspberries I've ever found are along this trail and it was not a question of them being there, but will they be there? As I made my way many of the berries had been picked by bears or others?, but there were still plenty left to fill my cup all the way down to the spring. The yellow sunflowers at the spring I anticipated were surprisingly out of peak, but that was OK as I had a cup full of wild berries to eat while I rested. My poo will look amazing soon!
Jacobson Sawmill - I then drove down to Jacobson and hiked in to the old Cluff Dairy to maybe pick some apples. Arrived to see way too many people camping at the dairy and that ended my apple picking dreams. The worst decision FS ever made was removing the gate and allowing people to drive down to this old historic area. Artifacts have been replaced with trash.
Arcadia - Stopped at the CG and hiked down to Wet Canyon to check the creek flow. Wet Canyon continues to flood and I still can not believe what this canyon now looks like since the fire!
RTM CG - Last stop down the Swift Trail was made at RTM for sunset and a walk down to Noon Creek.

No ladybugs, spotted owls or apples, but I did get my berries!
Along the way I spotted - 3 deer, 2 Abert's, turkey vultures, skunk, Mexican jays & a bobcat. Also heard but not spotted were many turkeys (Bear Canyon) and something big breaking tree limbs down in Dutch Henry Canyon ..... maybe a Preston Yeti?
I choose the East side on this day because all of these trails/area were Not affected by the Frye Fire and all looked great ..... I needed a no burn day :)
Wonderful trip!

Sunrise start to beat the heat.
Made it up to Marijilda Saddle by 6am and was already dripping with sweat
Was so happy to see that only the upper canyon & ridgeline were hit by last years Frye fire and not too bad, just patchy burn areas. The rest of the canyon down to Marijilda creek looked fine including the small population of pines along the trail that I feared would be gone. I continued down to just the first overlook of the Gila Valley below which was hidden in a thick smokey haze. Quick text to a friend who informed me that the winds had brought the smoke from 2 of the New Mexico fires into AZ overnight. Returned back in the hazy morning sunshine making it back down to my truck at 8am. Not a trail I like to do in June (my least favorite month), but am glad I got my status on Marijilda ..... and it was good!

As expected lots of holiday people around Noon Creek, but ..... not many know about the swimming holes up the middle of the canyon :y:
Parked at RTM CG and headed up the Swift Trail for the clockwise loop. Did Not get hit by a single vehicle on this short 1/4 mile walk up the road by the 25 or so passers :y:
Took the Noon Creek trail up to the upper crossing then down the canyon to the swim holes. Spent 2 hours there swimming, sun worshiping and watching all the dragonflies and butterflies over the pool and the insane amount of tadpoles under ..... it was wonderful!
Off-trailed back up to Noon Creek trail and finished the loop down into all the holiday mountain goers.
Way too many people on the lower mountain today, but it all worked out and I now have a new fresh slight sunburn to prove it!

Late afternoon clockwise loop.
Wonderful hike, made it to the upper crossing just as the sun fell behind Mt Graham.
Second half down I had wonderful shadow lighting.
Arrived down to the lower crossing at sunset.
Spent another hour at RTM Campground with a campfire and meal.
Watched the big moon rise and the lights of Safford below come on before returning back home.

Graham got more snow & rain overnight, so I headed up to Noon Creek for the water show while it's at peak. Started from the Round the Mountain TH and headed up counter for the loop. Right away I almost couldn't make the first lower crossing ..... can't remember ever seeing this much water rushing down Noon Creek!!!
Arrived later at the upper crossing with another tough water cross ..... this one I had to get wet.
In-between completing the loop I made some short side trips down the canyon, up the Round the Mountain trail, up Noon Creek Ridge and along the Swift Trail to bring me back to the start.
Unbelievable amount of water coming off the mountain everywhere right now, upper 1/3 of Graham covered with a new blanket of snow and throughout I was hit with snow flurries & cold, cold temps ..... It was Awesomely beautiful!

Afternoon trip up the mountain to just relax.
There is only 3 sites at RTM and I was a little surprised to get all of them on a Saturday.
Built a fire, ate dinner, took a short hike around & re-stoked the fire after sunset to spent the last hour reading and writing with a mouse and skunk. Relaxation accomplished!

Just recently noticed that FS has turned the lower Round the Mountain trailhead parking area into a campground as well ..... cool!
Apparently they did this last year ..... I just never noticed the new sign.
Wanted to spend this evening relaxing and getting some gear in order for an up coming trip.
I organized some gear, built a fire, had dinner & coffee and practiced some outdoor skills.
Then a short hike down and up Noon Creek a bit ended my stay.
Sunset was had at Freeman Flat before returning home.
