The hike starts from just on the NW side of I-15, reached by turning that direction from Old Route 91 onto what may be marked on some maps as N 5500 W (NE side of Winkel Distributing). Don't blink or you'll miss the turn, which is between a couple of warehouses. The portion to the wash is an old 4WD road. There are several ways to do the hike; one is to barge straight up the wash till you tire of boulder hopping and sand, or you can look for foot paths which short cut the turns in the wash. Both ways are fun. Not much elevation, but the rocks are beautiful and the canyon is magnificent. We had the trail to ourselves during our April club outing. |
