Decided to push myself a little with both the heat and the distance, since I've been sticking to slightly shorter hikes recently since my boots are starting to give me blisters (not a good sign). Set out a little before 2pm and cruised down the Second Thoughts trail. Didn't see anyone else on Second Thoughts besides the lizards. Approaching the big climb out of the canyon near the end of Second Thoughts I did see two dirtbikers on Twist-N-Shout but they didn't drop into the canyon. Rested for a couple minutes at the junction then cruised on up Twist-N-Shout towards the trailhead. Ran into a family at the Short Shot junction, who were having varying degrees of fun biking. Didn't see anyone else on the rest of the hike. The sand on the hike out on Twist-N-Shout was a pain but not terrible, and the clouds helped cut the heat. I think we're nearing the end of the desert wildflower season up here, most things are dying.
