|National Elevation Data|
NED DEM is the best available data, high precision ground surface elevation data for the United States. HAZ uses the 1/3 arc-second (about 10 meters) precision dataset.
Arguably better than elevation data collected by a gps unit on a slow-moving hike. Where frequent tiny errors accumulate. All those errors added up over the length of a journey can be significant.
Data recorded on smartphones is typically more inaccurate than dedicated gps receivers. Radical spikes in the beginning and throughout are not rare. Therefore Route Scout auto NED Syncs when exported to HAZ.
