in-vehicle camping preferred
by HAZ_Hikebot

  Likely In-Season!
This primitive, scenic, and ideally located (for day hiking in Pueblo Canyon & Cold Spring Canyon) first come/first serve vehicle camping area is best suited for "in-vehicle" camping. Tent Camping sites are also available along this ridge line camp area. However, there are fewer shady & flat "no rocks" tent camping sites. So, in summary, included with minimal shade on this higher ridgeline camping 4WD road area (off FR203) are a few level areas for tent and/or in-vehicle camping with a few campfire rings along the 4WD in. This drive-in ends at an old ranching corral.

From within this recommended campsite area, it is approximately a 5/8 mile hike south on Cherry Creek Road (FR203) to the popular TH Start for Pueblo Canyon and Cold Spring Canyon (at 33.838783 -110.867439).

Also Note:
Mostly open high Ridge tent and/or in-vehicle camping here with some Juniper trees for minimal shade and cover. Not a good camping location choice with high winds and/or AZ monsoon thunder season.

    To car camp trip
From Globe, AZ: From Highway 60 east, Take Hwy 188 north towards Lake Roosevelt. Turn right on Hwy 288 and follow about 2 miles past the Salt River/Salt River Bridge until you reach FR203 (Cherry Creek Road). Follow FR203 for ~24.25 miles until you reach a closed ranching gate at waypoint coordinates 33.845461 -110.873081 .. before passing through this ranching gate, make an immediate right turn (east) onto a faint ranching route road and continue on this 4WD and sometimes rocky ridge route to near its end at an old ranching corral.
