Guides
A specific trail or hike has 1 Guide page that may contain countless triplogs and photos. In 1996 there was 1 Guide for Brown’s Peak written by our founder Teva Joe. Over the course of 20 years, members have posted many Guide pages, including outlining states. Thousands of these have what we call an Official Route which is a GPS route that matches the Guide.

Understanding the four core parts of HAZ and how they sync together is good to know.

Route Scout – GPS Topo Mapper
Route Scout is our App for following and or recording routes out on a hike. It makes following the Guides mentioned above with Official Routes easier. It is available on Google Play and the Apple AppStore.

Utilizing the Save/Share function after recording a hike is a great way to contribute back to the HAZ community and easily knocks out 2 of the 4 core parts of HAZ. 

Route Editor – Create and Edit GPS Routes Online
Route Editor is a tool for avid and/or advanced hikers to create routes to suit their specific needs.

Organizing or attending events added on HAZ is your full responsibility and you render HAZ exempt from any responsibility for anything.

For best results +Add triplogs & photosets so others trust you have a sincere interest in the community. Then utilize the wish list or events forum.

HAZ is not a club that adds events. Events are for members looking to get together for hikes. Adding a successful event is not easy. This generally requires one to be socially adaptable to a wide range of personalities and great at planning. Adding on short notice rarely nets results. If you think you got what it takes and can hack the high possibility of no response or turnout then have at it and click "+Add New Event" above the calendar on the Events forum. AFTER adding you will see the option to add a date above the event which gets it on the calendar. You will also be privileged to link applicable guides so it will show up on those pages too. Adventure awaits, get out and explore!

Location

• Your location is continuously collected from when you press "begin activity" until you press "finish" or "delete".
• Your location is collected but not stored when you initiate Import > Nearby. 

• Android 11 > Settings > Apps > Route Scout > Permissions > Location > Allow all the time
• iOS 14 > Settings > Privacy > Location Services > Route Scout > Always

Data

By accessing Hike Arizona, you agree to be legally bound by the following terms. Hike Arizona may change these terms at any time without notice.

• False information, abusive, obscene, vulgar, slanderous, hateful, threatening, sexually-orientated or any other material that may violate any laws is unacceptable to add
• Information entered will be stored in a database
• Hike Arizona shall not be held responsible for data compromised via hacking
• All content such as text and images posted on or to hikearizona.com is a contribution to the community
• Any single person that registers multiple usernames or aliases may be deleted without notice
• Multiple individuals accessing a single account may be deleted without notice
• Accounts are singular to the member that registered. Multiple users accessing an account is strictly prohibited. All parties may be deleted without notice
• Spamming other HAZ Members via PMs, e-mail, the Forum, Triplogs or anywhere else on HAZ is strictly prohibited
  • Linking offsite is considered spam if you are not a consistent contributing member or if it sends participation away.
• Majority of your content, comments, captions, and such must be PG-13
• Archive Integrity - Contributed content deletion is available for a $500 removal fee
• Promoting offsite or outside the HAZ resource is strictly prohibited
• Engaging in excessive comments for entertainment is strictly frowned upon
• Account and content can be blocked, hidden or deleted at any time without any reason, explanation, or warning

Hiking and outdoor related sports can be dangerous. Be responsible and prepare for the trip. Study the area you are entering and plan accordingly. Dress for the current and unexpected weather changes. Take plenty of water. Never go alone. Make an itinerary with your plan(s), route(s), destination(s) and expected return time. Give your itinerary to trusted family and/or friends.

HikeArizona.COM is the largest member driven maintained collection of Hikes, GPS Routes, Photos & Triplogs. Data for other outdoor activities such as jogging, running, biking, horseback trail riding, backpacking, off-road 4x4 trips, climbing, kayaking, fishing, skiing, diving & canyoneering are welcome too! Although a majority of the data is for Arizona other US states are welcome. Outside of the U.S. is possible too via generic addition utilizing WW (World Wide) in the state field.
