If you want to enjoy the adventure go early May or late Sep.

July is the third most popular month for the Highline. It's also the hottest with temps on average in the mid 80's.

- center the red crosshair to any place on the map
- right click over the map ( or tap menu )
- select forecast

you should see many areas are in the 90s with our warmer than usual trend

Note: vicious storms break off the rim in July & August. At the vert least have a cheap emergency rain poncho.

September or early October is a good time to go, just get a weather forecast first as you can still get storms. It's also during the elk rut, so you are likely to hear and maybe bulls bugling.

Do be aware that there are a few large elk hunts sometime every fall -- check the game and fish website to get the dates. (Unit 22n.) If it says there's 25 or 30 hunters drawn for a small hunt, you're fine. If it's a big hunt with several hundred hunters drawn, think twice about that weekend -- there will be all those hunters plus their buddies in the field and it can get a bit crazy. :o In particular, avoid the annual cow elk hunt, which always seems to be amateur hour.
