Beale Wagon Road - Historical Markers and Signs

Post by Randal_Schulhauser »

During my location research to generate the hike description, one of my laments was the wanton vandalism to the historical markers and signs placed by Jack Beale Smith and his group of volunteer historians.

I'm happy to report that after completing a "Flagstaff Walkabout" today, some of the historic signs have been restored by the City of Flagstaff. That's great to see! Merry Xmas...

That's good news.

Almost suspect they just took it down to replicate the modern version, unless it was blown to shreds on the ground.

Certainly a possible explanation, however here's a newspaper reference to "stolen signs"...

On a recent trip to Government Prairie, noticed that signage along the Forest Road has disappeared. :(

Can report that 4x4 marker post ( http://hikearizona.com/phoZOOM.php?ZIP=105191 ) still remains...
