Amateur Radio field day

Post by BEEBEE »

Field day is coming up and the Superstition ARC is going to be setting up along FR300 on June 23 and 24. All are welcome. If you would like to experience Armature radio in the field. The Club members will be setting up antennas and radio equipment to communicate with other stations around the country and the world.

ARRL Field Day is the single most popular on-the-air event held annually in the US and Canada. Each year over 35,000 amateurs gather with their clubs, friends or simply by themselves to operate.

ARRL Field Day is not a fully adjudicated contest, which explains much of its popularity. It is a time where many aspects of Amateur Radio come together to highlight our many roles. While some will treat it as a contest, most groups use the opportunity to practice their emergency response capabilities. It is an excellent opportunity to demonstrate Amateur Radio to local elected community leaders, key individuals with the organizations that Amateur Radio might serve in an emergency, as well as the general public. For many clubs, ARRL Field Day is one of the highlights of their annual calendar.

There will be several people car camping so Ham's and Non Ham's drop by.

I'm signing up now as interested vs committed only because it's a 3.5 hour drive one way in my 10-12 mpg Jeep(w/HAM Radio) and because I now have two different full week camping trips off FR300 scheduled in June/July prior-to & after this now scheduled June 23-24 Superstition ARC get-together..So I do want to attend probably as a long day trip for Sat-6/23, but I will not be able to commit until later into June. If I am able to make it up there, Brian I would want to hook-up with you for the days' events.

..and if I can make it and if our Outdoor Lover(Pam) is available to join me, then we will find out what kind-of "Outdoor Lover" she really is riding in my semi-open Jeep in 110F degree June temps..

Great Hank all Amateurs and non Amateurs are welcome. I figured this would be up your alley and an easy ride for the grasshopper.

I'm up to join in for either Sat-6/23 or Sun-6/24.. if I can find someone brave enough to join me in my Grasshopper (all gas $ is on me). Brian, which full day are you now thinking you prefer to be there and do you have driving directions to the meeting location(s)? Pam, you are still welcome to join me if you are still interested and can swing the work schedule change with your co-workers? I can be ready to leave my place in So. Scottsdale at 6:30am with a warm  3.5hr drive up to the Rim and with a warmer   3.5hr drive back in my open air Grasshopper :)
