Paste: Gray to red.
Temper: Coarse sand, occasionally with mica.
Design: Interior surfaces slipped white and polished. Exteriors often unslipped, lightly smoothed. Designs are generally simple, consisting of negative designs or broadly-hatched elements. Design elements include triangles, broad lines, serrated lines, hooks, stair steps, and rarely human or animal figures.
Comments: Vessel forms are primarily bowls. This type was formerly called Mimbres Bold Face, and is likely a precursor to Mimbres Figural and Mimbres Geometric.
