an in-depth intro to the sierra anchas, having only hiked parker creek trail some 15 years ago
got an invite from hank and larry to search for some ruins
a lot of research and recon went into this outing
larry's triplog and photos cover the excursion well:
http://hikearizona.com/photoset=29630
i'm only going to add some random personal thoughts on this hike
loved the drive and can't wait to spend more time in the anchas
larry and hank know the area well and are more than willing to share that knowledge
this was quite the off-trail trek, even though a short one
i'm actually getting to like this stuff :o
have never been much into ruins, but my first glimpse of a wall that we didn't know existed at the base of the cliff had me hooked
there were more areas than they had thought and we all enjoyed looking around
should have taken more photos on the ledge
had lunch near the spring, also saw two other water sources nearby
the return trip seemed to go much faster
thanks for the invite, guys
i enjoy your company and appreciate you sharing this one with me
had a great time!
