| no partners | | The goal was to find the northern terminus of the Black Canyon Trail and to create GPS tracks of the trail from Old Sycamore Rd, north. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to start until after 2 pm. I was able to follow the trail most of the way but made some wrong turns. I started with a route by mt98dew.
At one point, I came to a wash and didn't spot the trail on the other side. I ended up seeing a trail that went a different way than the route I was following so I took it. It went along the wash and there were some pools with water. After a while the trail petered out. The route was west of where I was on the other side of a hill, so I went cross country and met up with it shortly before it ended.
A bit before I turned around, I lost the BCT. I knew I was nearing a road, so I hiked up to it then followed the road south looking for the BCT and didn't find it so I turned around and followed the road north until I did. By then it was about 4:30 so I followed the BCT back to Old Sycamore Rd. This is my route. |
