Short hike from the closed/locked gate on Forest Road 219 to Horseshoe Bend on the Salt River and back. I'd never seen the gate locked before so it was a bit of a surprise, but it sure kept the riff-raff out. Only two vehicles with tents were there but we saw nobody so they may have been wandering down to the river like we were.

I must say there was not a speck of trash along the river like I'd seen in the past, so I suppose the FS cleaned it up and locked the gate. I'll call them on Tuesday to see if it's permanent, or maybe due to all their manpower is tied up fighting fires??
