Chapter 2 of the 1/23/12 story...
Leaving the old mine area I continued to climb until I reached the top of the ridge. First it was a beautiful view, but second, what did I see below but choice #2 of the hikes I would choose from for the day... the canyon I planned on traversing from mouth-to-source. Well, here I am some 600+ feet above it so I set about heading along to ridge above the canyon scanning as much of the canyon floor as I could in preparation for hiking it a few hours from now.

The farther I climbed, the more I wished I had taken more than GPS and camera... I'm thirsty but have no fluid, the sun's getting in my eyes but I have no hat, the wind is picking up as I climb higher. But expecting to venture only 100 feet from the Samurai my thin long-sleeve shirt provided little in the form of warmth. And so it goes... I'm either way over-prepared or or well under-prepared on my hikes, but I never let that stop me.

Ok, enough whining, let's get on with it... I figured I'm this close I'll continue all the way to Peak 3315, only to come to a cliff-out of sorts some 800' short of the peak. Oh well, I've gained information for my hike up the canyon from below so it's time to head back to the Sammy and drive back down to the mouth of the canyon for the real hike.

So my short impromptu hike brought me up close and personal to Peak 3315, but it will jave to wait for another time.

I'll be posting photos of this hike here soon... My full 79-photo set including today's 4x4 trips and hikes is here:
