 This trail climbs steeply over rugged terrain and loose cinders to the summit of South Sister. Because of the popularity of this trail, it is highly recommended to avoid weekends.
The trail enters the Three Sisters Wilderness shortly after leaving the trailhead. Wilderness Permits are required for both day use and overnight stays from Memorial Day Weekend until Oct. 31. Free permits are self-issued at the trailhead.
