Loop da Loop by imike ![]() Another set of looping and intersecting trail systems, really old jeep and ATV double track, that zings off and away from Scenic Drive, cresting hills, zooping along drainages. This is best viewed on the satellite setting to get a general idea of the potentials, then just go and challenge your riding skills, or enjoy a challenging trail run... or, just walk your dog. You can pull in and park in the flats surrounded by the scrub just off the paved road. The trails drift north over to the large church, and if you get on the right track, wind nicely up and over the low hills below the Garden Wall (the low rock precipice that runs along the foothills below Beeman Ridge). If you are driving north on Scenic drive, look for the curb cut driveway just past the Coffee House... that is one of the nicer pull offs... opens into a clearing within 30 yards. This is also a potential parking area if you are hiking Beeman Ridge... allowing for a more off trail approach directly up the hill. Expect the occasional ATV... and rarely, mountain bikers. It takes a bit of skill to ride some of the steeper portions in the Maze, but it is worth a try. Great place to get some hard efforts in right here in town. This is a nice set of trails to add to the varied old tracks off of the east end of Indian Wells Road... nicely connected by Scenic Drive. Do them both and you'll have an interesting variety with some substantial accumulated mileage. You can also connect to an old Jeep road running behind the church that will carry you to the jeep track leading into Beeman Canyon. That track runs up and into the canyon for over a mile, terminating at what appears to be an old mine works. Hard ride up and in, but not too bad coming back out: all down hill. If you need more mileage, just continue ever further north around past Beeman Canyon! Check out the Triplog. Leave No Trace and +Add a Triplog after your hike to support this local community.
