Overview: Cliff Palace is one of the featured attractions at Mesa Verde National Park. The park service conducts guided tours for a fee. Purchase asmission for the tour at the visitor center. The best views of Cliff Palace ar from a viewpoint at the entrace gate to the tour.

Gate Policy: If a gate is closed upon arrival, leave it closed after you go through. If it is open, leave it open. Leaving a closed gate open may put cattle in danger. Closing an open gate may cut them off from water. Please be respectful, leave gates as found. The exception is signage on the gate directing you otherwise.

In addition to the fee per vehicle to get into the park, there is a ticket charge per tour that has to be purchased in advance for this hike (Cliff Palace), as well as Balcony House and Long House. These tour tickets can be purchased at the Visitor Center, the Morefield Ranger Station, or the Colorado Welcome Center in Cortez. Note there can be really long lines at times to buy tickets at the Visitor's Center, and the number of tickets sold per tour is limited.
