Overview: A lovely off-trail adventure circumnavigating Turtlehead Peak. The loop takes you past history galore - some very nice panels of petroglyphs and pictographs along with two CCC dam projects, and an old miner's cabin if you're willing to make a detour.

    To hike
    From Las Vegas, drive west on Charleston Boulevard, which turns into NV-159; or drive west on NV-160 to the junction with NV-159. Just follow Route 159 until you see the entrance for Red Rocks NCA. To reach the trailhead, follow the one-way Scenic Loop to the Sandstone Quarry parking area. The trail begins at the large signs near the bathrooms.
