To hike
From US Highway 2 via Great Falls in the East or Kalispell in the West, once you are on Going to the Sun Road, you can either start from Lake McDonald Lodge TH up the Sperry Trail (6.2 miles, 3300 elev gain) or start at the Gunsight Pass (13.7 to the chalet and 2 climbs of 1,600 starting at the 6 1/4 mile mark or so and 1,100 from Lake Ellen Wilson at about the 10 mile mark) TH at the Jackson Glacier Overlook. Both are shuttle stops. It is recommended that you not do all of the hike in one day if coming from a TH. It is better to stay at Sperry Chalet or Sperry Campground.
