Expand MapOverview: On this 90-minute guided tour you will ride a tram to and from the trailhead. In the site you will climb 2 15-foot ladders. Allow 1 ¼ hours for this drive from the visitor center, and vehicles over 25 feet long are not permitted on this road. While out there in this part of the national park, you can do a tour of the Step House without a guide, near where the tram departs from.


Guided tours only. Only open Memorial Day to Labor Day.

    In addition to the fee per vehicle to get into the park, there is a ticket charge per tour that has to be purchased in advance for this hike (Balcony House), as well as Cliff Palace and Balcony House. These tour tickets can be purchased at the Visitor Center, the Morefield Ranger Station, or the Colorado Welcome Center in Cortez. Note there can be really long lines at times to buy tickets at the Visitor's Center, and the number of tickets sold per tour is limited.

    Tours of the Long House are limited, only open from mid-May through then end of August.
