Syllabus
Spooner Summit to Kingsbury is a 12.53 mile one way hike with 1,684 feet elevation gain. Located 9 miles west-southwest of Carson City Nevada. A high clearance 4x4 vehicle and a competent driver is recommended to access the trailhead. June and September are the best months to enjoy this hike.


Overview: This is the only section of the Tahoe Rim Trail that allows motor vehicles. 4 X 4, atv, motorcycle, snowmobiles, hiking and mountain biking is allowed any day of the week. There is a separate single track Tahoe Rim Trail that runs thru this section that allows only hikers and mountain bikers seven days a week.

    To hike
    The trailhead is located at Spooner Summit on US. highway 50 west of Carson City. Access is on the south side of the road on a frontage just west of highway 28 between the fire station and department of transportaion highway department.
