Overview: The American Discovery Trail is coast to coast trail covering 6800 miles and fifteen states. The California trail portion is 376 miles. It starts east to west here following the Tahoe Rim Trail for several miles, and then shares the Western States Trail for the next 100 miles.

    From Reno take 395 south to the exit for SR 431, Mt Rose Highway. Take the Mt Rose highway 10 miles going past the Mt Rose Ski Resort and on to the summit where there is a parking lot on your right.
