This is a very easy loop trail that begins just below the summit of Mount Diablo, and circumnavigates the peak with an impressive view of the bay area and Northern California.


The trail is named after and dedicated to Dr. Mary Bowerman, a botanist and co-founder of Save Mount Diablo.

    To hike
    South Gate Road: Take Diablo Road from Interstate 680 at the town of Danville. Follow signs to Mount Diablo State Park. You can drive all the way to the top from here.

    North Gate Road: Take Walnut Ave off Ygnacio Valley Road in the town of Walnut Creek; follow signs to Mount Diablo State Park. You can drive all the way to the top from here.
