Its too easy to pass!
by keepmoving

Overview
This is a super short hike to an often overlooked waterfall. Seriously, its about as short of a hike as you can possibly imagine and doesn't take more than a couple minutes to walk it. So.... why would you pass it? Sure, most of the waterfall is already visible from the hwy, but its always fun to get a bit closer!

Warning
Keep a close eye on any small children or pets you bring with you on this trial. The only thing separating you from a tumble over the falls is a small guard rail at the end of the hike.

Hike
From the parking pullouts along Historic Columbia River Hwy, walk towards the Bridge over Shepperd's Dell Falls and look for a trail leading down a series of stone steps. Walk down the steps and follow the path as it curves along the hillside. The trail ends at the base of a small waterfall that cascades over the edge of the cliff and out of site towards Shepperd's Dell Falls.

    To hike
From Portland, head east on I84 and take exit #28 towards Bridal Veil. Turn right at your first stop sign and head west along the Historic Columbia River Hwy for 1.6 miles. Shepperd's Dell Falls is marked, but the parking is extremely limited- there are only two small pullouts on each side of the road on the south side of the bridge that couldn't handle more than a couple of cars. If there is no parking (which is pretty unlikely), just visit another waterfall in the area and head back. The hike is so short that parking frees up pretty quickly.
