A trip to Sequoia National Park is not complete until you've seen the General Sherman. It's the world's largest living tree and truly a sight to be seen. Hiking down the Sherman Tree Trail gives you perspective into the tree's sure magnitude, as you descend signs indicate how close you're getting to the base. Halfway down the trail the tree becomes completely visible for the first time and more placards and information are displayed that are definitely worth reading. The general isn't the only impressive sight in this short loop, there are numerous Sequoias that will leave you humbled in their presence! Be sure to bring the camera!

To hike From the Generals Highway in Sequoia NP, take a right on the road to Wolverton and follow the signs for the Sherman Tree approximately 0.5 miles. You have two options from the trailhead, you can walk down the trail (recommended) or take a shuttle to the main road to be dropped off within a few hundred yards of the General Sherman Tree.
