Author Full Detail Guide
A short steep hike down toward the river on a moslty talus slope. Once at the trees, head left towards the sound of the water. Sharp eyes can pick up a faint trail. This waterfall is a favorite with kayakers- reportedly one of the most photographed and video'd in the world.

Hiked this after hitting up wind mountain. Hauled all my nice heavy camera gear and the tripod to get some good shots. Had some nice soft light on the falls when I started shooting, but the clouds soon rolled in and the remainder of my shots were in the shade. Could have spent hours just enjoying the falls and taking shots from different angles, but my camera unexpectedly died on me in the middle of my photo shoot :pout: . Took me a couple of days, but I magically got it working again now :y:

A great little spot with no people. The exposed hike down was a little warm with the sun out. If you look closely you can make out a foot path and while on the talus, a stone or two moved makes your path correct. Plus, just go down until you hit the trees and hook a left.

Not recommended unless you're looking for an offtrail adventure. It's short but it's steep and rolly.

We made it down to the water just before the lighting for pictures got patchy. The falls and the river were amazing here. You'll know not to fall in.

Used the HAZ app to make a route.

We stayed a couple nights in a one room no electricity cabin on a guy's land near the river. Noel found all our night places on Airbnb. Couldn't beat it at $20 a night.

From Hood River Bridge, head west on WA-14. After Drano Lake, turn right onto Cook-Underwood Rd. (it's the 2nd Cook Underwood from the bridge). Go 2mi and park on righthand dirt shoulder at milepost 2 marker.
