This summit is private property but it just so happens that there is a distant family connection. So I got the requisite permissions and hiked strait up the mountain. There are no trails to the top. One might try hiking up from the north-west side instead of the east for an easier go. I parked the car in front of my uncle’s house at the Westview Village subdivision, walked east up Westview Village Dr a couple hundred yards, crossed a couple of fences and then bushwhacked it up to the summit. There’s a fair amount of vegetation to help secure your footing, but I still slipped on the loose soil a few times. It’s a great view of Afton and outlying towns from the summit. Make sure you have a hiking stick. You’ll definitely need it on the way down.
