Located East-NE off Hwy 87 North, approximately thirty miles south of Winslow, AZ, in the Northern section of the Coconino National Forest bordering the Sitgreaves National Forest at East Clear Creek, resides a vast, interesting plateau, historic ranching-homesteading, and East Clear Creek Canyon hiking trail and off-trail exploration area. This "Camp Grasshopper" provides a centrally located base camp location for planned multi-day sightseeing and area day hike explorations.

    To car camp trip
    From the Phoenix area: Highway 87 North to 12.1 miles past the Coconino NF- Blue Ridge Ranger Station. Turn East off Hwy 87 onto 4WD FR615 (close ranching gate after passing through). Follow FR615 for 5.4 sometimes rough/rocky road miles (approx 40 minutes drive one way) to the signed intersection of FR615/FR319. Camp Grasshopper is located approximately 30 yards off-road in the NE corner section of this intersection (at coordinates 34.688901 -111.019774). "Please Note": It is highly recommended to download and follow the above 5.4-mile one-way GPS Driving Route posted to this Guide.
