Paramount Ranch is a historic area in Santa Monica Mountains. Paramount Pictures bought land in the hills around Medea Creek in 1927 and filmed there for about 25 years. In 1953 William Hertz bought the ranch and built a Western Town movie set that TV companies started to use to film their westerns. In 1956 a Paramount Racetrack was built but closed 1.5 years later after three fatal accidents. After that the ranch changed owners but still was used as a movie set. In 1990s TV show "Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman" was filmed there. Now the Western Town still stands but buildings are closed and empty as it's a movie set, some sections of the racetrack are still intact. There are some hiking trails with surroundings that one can remember from movies and TV shows.
