Canyons are inherently risky. Flash floods occur without notice on sunny days. Technical skills & surrounding topography knowledge required yet does not eliminate risk.

An enjoyable sandstone canyon with a series of potholes, hence the name. Most enjoyable with water.

    To canyon trip
To drop off your shuttle vehicle, drive west on either NV-160 or Charleston Blvd from the Las Vegas valley. If driving on NV-160, turn right onto NV-159. If driving out on Charleston, you are already on NV-159. Drive to the signed turn-off for Bonnie Springs and turn onto it. Drive down and park in the main lot at the end of the road.

To reach the trailhead, drive back out and turn right onto NV-159. When NV-159 ends, turn right onto NV-160. After 10.2 miles, turn right on Williams Ranch Road in the small community of Mountain Springs. Just before reaching the gate of an NDOT lot (<1000 ft), turn left onto a dirt road (Rainbow Spring / Bottlebrush Rd, not signed). After driving around the NDOT lot, turn right onto FS 541 just before the locked gate with Private Property signs. Drive 0.3 mi along this road to a pullout on the right lined by large rocks. Park here.
