Overview
76 Trail is a 1 mile one way hike with 750 feet elevation gain. Located 8 miles west of Lead South Dakota. Trailhead access is via a dirt road which is typically car accessible when dry. September and May are the best months to enjoy this hike.


Short, steep trail to Buzzards Roost. Great views of Spearfish Canyon.

    To hike
    The ’76 Trail is located in Spearfish Canyon. It is about a 20 minute drive from Deadwood. Take Hwy 85 through Lead to Cheyenne Crossing. Turn North on Hwy 14A (Spearfish Canyon) Turn at Savoy and the trail starts right across the road from the Spearfish Canyon Lodge.
