Quick connector to AZT
by writelots

  Likely In-Season!
Quick trail connecting the Lakeview Campground to the Arizona Trail on Anderson Mesa. The trail was built by ATA volunteers and crews over 2 years between 2014 and 2015.

The trail begins at the back of the Lakeview Campground at the gate across the old forest road. It climbs slowly up the slope of the mesa through the pines and oaks. Near the top it reaches the cliff band of grey basalt and the trail goes through a number of well graded switch backs. A couple of spots offer beautiful views down the valley of Lake Mary and across to Mormon Mountain. Once up on the mesa, the trail crosses a fence line to meet up with the AZT.

Note
There is no day-use parking in the Lakeview Campground at this time. The trailhead is accessible only to those staying in the campground or for drop-offs. The trailhead does open up some interesting loop potential, though.

Gate Policy: If a gate is closed upon arrival, leave it closed after you go through. If it is open, leave it open. Leaving a closed gate open may put cattle in danger. Closing an open gate may cut them off from water. Please be respectful, leave gates as found. The exception is signage on the gate directing you otherwise.
