Overview
Yellow Mountain Trail is a 12.6 mile round trip hike with 3,079 feet accumulated elevation gain. Located 50 miles southwest of Asheville North Carolina. The trailhead is car accessible. May and April are the best months to enjoy this hike.


The Yellow Mountain Trail located in the Nantahala National Forest offers a forested hike that leads to the summit of Yellow Mountain at roughly 5,100 ft. You'll find an old fire lookout tower with outstanding views. The tower has been decommissioned for some time. This hike is listed as an out and back and starts from a small parking area with room for a handful of cars.
