by AZLOT69

Likely In-Season!
Overview
The Dragon Tail Rock Art sites are four different sites with relatively easy hikes at each one depending on your thirst for exploring.

Site 1
Take County Rd 23 5.6 miles south to County Rd 100. Turn left and proceed 0.3 miles to a junction. Turn right go about 100 feet to trailhead. Follow the trail to the rock art warrior with shield. We were unable to find any other rock art in the area.

Site 2
Return to County Road 23 turn left and note your mileage. Proceed south to milepost 9.7. Turn left on BLM 1045B. Take this 1.3 miles. At the junction take the left fork. Take this road to the end 0.6 miles. This is the Trailhead. Hike north following the ridge for about 250 yards to the rock art which is at eye level. One panel was located here with carrot shaped figures.

Site 3
Return to County Road 23. Note your mileage. Proceed south to mile post 10.1. Turn right at dirt road marked with sign "Crook's Brand". Proceed 0.15 miles to dirt road turn right. Proceed a short distance to trailhead. Various rock art at this site. Several horses, one which is said to depict General Crook's house with his brand on the horse. There is a white man with a top hat and trench coat. Cowboy inscriptions, and what's left of a pinup girl believed to have been made by a shepherded who worked this area.. It has been shot up by some irresponsible person.

Site 4
Go back to County Road 23. Note your mileage. Proceed south to mile post 11.6. Turn right at dirt road signed Carrot Man Site. Proceed 0.3 miles to parking area on left. Take trail down into wash on the south side. Several Carrot men at this location, several in red pigment. Several in Blue pigment, made with Azurite.
