Syllabus
Bizz Johnson National Recreation Trail is a 25.28 mile one way hike with 1,383 feet accumulated elevation gain. Located 78 miles northeast of Chico California. The trailhead is car accessible.


Overview: A Rails to Trails project, this trail follows an abandoned section of the Southern Pacific Railroad.

    To hike
    Take Highway 395 North from Reno, Nevada about 85 miles until it turns toward Alturas, Ca. Continue straight on the main roadway (which becomes Highway 36) into Susanville. Follow Main Street to the stop light at the bottom of the hill by Historic Uptown Susanville. Turn left on Weatherlow Street (which becomes Richmond Road) and follow 1/2 mile across Susan River to Susanville Railroad Depot Trailhead and Visitor Center.
