Kidepo Valley National Park is a 557 sq miles national park in the Karamoja region in northeast Uganda, bordering South Sudan. Kidepo is rugged and true savannah, dominated by the 9,020 ft Mount Morungole and transected by the Kidepo and Narus rivers.

It has fewer visitors than the other national parks in Uganda due to the distance from Kampala. It is the only national park with African cape hunting dogs and cheetahs. Animals seen are zebras, cape buffaloes, jackals, lions, leopards, impalas, elands, elephants, giraffes, mongooses, monkeys, ostriches (western portion of the park), and a large variety of birds.

The park has wet and dry seasons. Dry seasons are in January and February and June and July. Those are the recommended months to go because the grass would be at its lowest to spot animals during the game drives. Hiking is limited but permitted with a guide.

The western portion of the park has more opportunities to see more birds, especially ostriches. Also, cheetahs can be seen in the western portion. The eastern portion of the park has more of the big game animals.

Wifi is limited in the park. The area is stable. Game ranger are armed to protect tourists from kidnappers and to protect animals from poachers.
