The official route shown is one of many legal ways to park and hike to this peak. It follows the old road to the now dismantled fire tower. It was dismantled sometime after 1936 when a new tower was built on Hutch Mountain to the north. The tower, building foundation and cistern can still be seen at the top. At the time of this writing, the tower road is littered with fallen trees and it is probably easier to take an off trail approach.
We approached from the south and descended on the old road.
