Very green place by Mike_W ![]() Overview
This is a relatively new trail system that was developed on the Northeast side of Grand Island, New York, off Sturbridge Lane. Google shows this place as simply "Scenic Woods Park" which, I believe, is too generic of a name. 2 loops go through a forested area and an open field which together add up to 1.5 miles total. If you are looking for more mileage you can simply do the loop 2 or 3 times. Hike At the trailhead, there's a parking lot that holds about 10 cars, so there should be plenty of room to park. From the trailhead, walk about 100 feet East and you will come to a junction. From here, turn right, and shortly you will be in a forested area. Take your next right and you will be headed toward the smaller of the 2 loops. There's a creek area and a few bridges that cross over the water. After going around the small loop, you will be heading back on the same trail. When you get back to the same junction, this time, turn right and you will be going around the larger loop. At this point, you should have traveled about 0.7 miles in total. When I was here, I saw some birdhouses hung up alongside the trail. The larger loop is roughly 0.8 miles all the way around. On this loop, I saw 1 rabbit and a few frogs in August. On the West end of this loop, you will be near the trailhead again. At this point, you can end your hike or continue if you'd like to get more mileage.
