The Pearl Harbor National Memorial is a place in Hawaii that honors a tragic event in American history. On December 7, 1941, the Japanese attacked Pearl Harbor, a U.S. Navy base, without warning. This attack led the United States to enter World War II. The USS Arizona, a battleship, was one of the ships that was destroyed in the attack, and 1,177 sailors lost their lives.
The memorial has two important parts. First, there's the USS Arizona Memorial, a special white building that stands over the sunken remains of the battleship. You can take a boat to reach this place, where you can see parts of the sunken ship just beneath the water's surface. It's a very quiet and respectful place to remember the people who died that day.

Second, there's a visitor center with lots of information and exhibits about the attack on Pearl Harbor. You can learn about the history and watch videos that explain what happened. The USS Arizona Memorial helps us remember the sacrifice of the sailors and the importance of peace.
