Think Pink
by The_Eagle

The Puʻu O Hulu Trail, aka "The Pink Pillbox Trail", is a popular and picturesque hiking trail located on the west side of Oahu, Hawaii.

Rising to an elevation of about 800 feet, the Pink Pillbox Trail spans approximately 2.0 miles round trip, depending on how much you want to bite off. The term "pink pillbox" stems from the small military bunkers painted pink that dot the trail, offering a unique historical perspective. These pillboxes once served as lookout posts during World War II, providing a vantage point to monitor the coastline for potential threats.

As you climb the trail, you'll be greeted with views of the Waianae Coast, including panoramic views of Maili Beach, Ka'ena Point, and the Pacific Ocean. The vibrant colors of the ocean and the surrounding greenery create a photo-worthy backdrop at every turn.

The Puʻu O Hulu Trail isn't just a scenic hike; it's a walk through history. Its pink pillboxes offer a glimpse into Hawaii's military past, while the trail itself immerses you in the island's natural beauty. This trail is a fantastic way to appreciate both the history and the stunning landscapes of Oahu.
