This is a temporary trailhead while a visitor center is being built which adds a mile to the distance. The new trailhead/visitor center should open in 2027. The hike is slog thru the wash of loose gravel. The petroglyphs begin in earnest after the third dry fall. The third dry fall is difficult without a bypass. The petroglyphs are high and spread out on the hillside. The signs ask visitors to stay off the hillside. Hmmm.
From here rather than descend the treacherous dry fall we continued on to the Cowboy Trail a short distance and returned to the wash completing a lasso loop for the slog back to the trailhead.
