Syllabus
Alder Flat Trail #574 is a 1.8 mile round trip hike with 218 feet accumulated elevation gain. Located 43 miles southeast of Portland Oregon. June and September are the best months to enjoy this hike.


Overview
This short and easily traveled trail meanders its way through old growth forest of Douglas Fir, cedar and hemlock as it winds down to the shoreline of the Wild and Scenic Clackamas River.


Hike
The trail begins at Hwy 224 (1,500’) at the trailhead and ends near the wide floodplain and shoreline of the Clackamas River (1,300). From Hwy 224, the trail heads southwest for 0.25 mile before turning northwest.

    To hike
    From Portland, OR travel east on US Hwy 26 to Sandy. Turn right (southwest) on OR Hwy 211 and travel 6.1 miles to OR Hwy 224. Turn left (southeast) on OR Hwy 224 and travel 29.9 miles to the parking lot on the west side of OR Hwy 224 (approximately 0.15 miles south of milepost 49).
