![]() The Howson Creek Trail begins at County Road 903 and ends at Sasse Mtn Trail #1340.
This is an old trail that has been abandoned for many years. Volunteer efforts have reopened much of this trail. From Cle Elum Campground, the trail heads up the south side of Howson Creek for approximately 0.75 miles, then crosses the creek and gets steeper as it heads up through a clear-cut for 0.5 miles. This section through the clearcut is very steep and difficult for stock. After leaving the clearcut, the trail switches back up through old-growth and contours around the upper basin of Howson Creek to the top of Sasse Ridge, where it meets Sasse Mountain Trail 1340. Water is scarce on the upper part of the trail, particularly later in the season. The trail is very difficult to locate for the upper two miles. Check out the Triplog. Note This is a moderately difficult hike. Leave No Trace and +Add a Triplog after your hike to support this local community. |
