Re: GPS Watch or Lightweight Handheld Recommendations
@LindaAnn Thanks again Linda. It seems that the GPS watch technology isn't quite there yet. I have read several reviews on multiple watches that the Mileage/AEG accuracy is lacking - which is what I really want it for. I can do "ballpark" stats with my maps and/or old TOPO software. These...

Re: GPS Watch or Lightweight Handheld Recommendations
Thank you everyone for your responses, I certainly appreciate you taking the time to help me out. I don't typically carry my smartphone when I hike ("heavy" and bulky), but perhaps I might in the future when GPS is needed. I'll do more research on the watches, as that is a more desirable ...

GPS Watch or Lightweight Handheld Recommendations
Hello all, I own an old Garmin GPSMap76CSx that I use for canyoneering - but it's a TOAD! Looking for something very lightweight, I'm thinking a watch but open to a very small handheld, for extended dayhikes. It needs to be accurate, with a long battery life, as I do loooong hikes. I would just lik...

Re: Tule to Peralta
Been awhile since I checked the thread - I have read it all. So it looks like 36M and 6,900'? Question on taking the Randolf Canyon (route?) versus the Fraser 108 trail on that segment. Not familar with this area. Is it that Fraser is overgrown and Randolf is a more open/defined route? I don't see ...

Re: Double Ridgeline 12/30
Sounds interesting. I have done many variations of the Ridgeline over the years - the biggest being looping back on Lost Goldmine instead of shuttling - but never as an out and back.

Re: Tule to Peralta
Hey Joe:
I'll be doing RX3 and probably San Jacinto as dayhikes between now and your trip (plus big training hikes), so should be in great shape. I am interested and I'll keep an eye on the thread, and see how I do with what I have coming up. Thanks for the invite!

Re: Donahue/Webber/Highline Loop - Sunday Sept. 5
I'll be up in the area the day before doing some canyoneering. What time can I meet you guys at the TH? Also, I wanted to add the little out-and-back at the top of the loop on East Webber for some extra milage. I'll go pretty fast, training for R-R-R, so hope to catch someone before getting back to ...

Thanks guys for all your thoughts/help. I'll try giving a call - first. Hope no one is at the mine - second. If they are there, hope they are friendly - third. Hopefully I'll be posting a successful completion in a couple weeks! : )

Four Peaks/ Mother Lode - Trespassing?
Hello: I thought there was a phone number for the Amethyst Mine somewhere on the page for trying to get permission to pass through to the drainage between peaks 3 and 4, but now I can't find it? Has anyone called with success? What are the chances of getting through if you just show-up? Are they us...

Re: Man survives 100ft fall in Zion
The canyon is Englestead. The fall happened on the big rap (almost 300') that drops you into the canyon. Glad he is ok - a lot of mistakes for this big of a rap. VERY fortunate to be alive.

Hiking Alone
I am hiking to Reavis Falls tomorrow. Scouting it for a future group hike. I enjoy the peace and solitude of the scouting trips. But, several people do know where I am going for the day.
