Hope you like to swim! Start at Maxwell, why miss any of it? Beautiful canyon. Be extra cautious during monsoons. That water rises fast when a storm hits. Camping gets a bit tight around the boxes. Speed? I'd say a mile an hour is to be expected, less in the boxes.

I'm gonna bet that is the Tonto on the north side of 'Hellsgate proper' as Matt referred to it. There are alot of pools like that if you come in the other way.

I thought that pregnant women are not supposed to lift anything in the last trimester? I hate to say this but I think that was made up by some lazy pregnant woman to get others to do the work for her  If a woman keeps herself fit and healthy before her pregnancy and throughout I don't see why...

I say backpack (or anything else for that matter) all you want while you are pregnant as long as you feel able. I feel the more active you are the healthier you will be in your pregnancy, labor and delivery. I ran a 5k the week before my 6th child was born and delivered her at home with a labor of a...

Did I say it was o.k. to hike off the trail? That I did it. :D
Ditto! I don't know Matt, that much thought could be dangerous!

Hmmm. Interesting thread. The Desert can deal a whole multitude of hands to anyone who ventures out in it. Nobody can predict what "Ma Nature" is going to dole out to the suspecting, or unsuspecting. All ANYONE can do to prepare for what Nature has in store for them is to do their best. Pack accord...

There are lots of places around Sedona/Oak creek area with swimming holes. West Clear Creek, Wet Beaver Creek to name a few. Problem is they are going to be crowded. I'm not real sure around Flagstaff. A few years back I went climbing in an area called Paradise Forks outside of the Williams/Flagstaf...

I have a similar problem with my left knee. For years I have run hills as part of my training. It never bothered me until year before last right after a downhill stretch, at the Whiskey Row Marathon. The pain was intolerable and I almost didn't finish. I was on crutches for a few days. It has never ...

In this family we have a 1960 Willy's CJ, a 1978 Wagoneer, and a 1990 Cherokee. Good idea Bryan, but the Crown King trail isn't all it's cracked up to be. Any other trail and I'm game.

I'm getting a little dizzy reading all this. My youngest is 12 and the only one left in Jr. High. I have one in college and one who dropped out of college much to my dismay, to work fulltime on his business. I have 2 entering college next year. Since it will be 4 more years until the next one starts...

I had a Springer Spaniel once. He looks like maybe he could be part Springer. Our Chocolate lab has been gone for 3 months now. We thought we'd wait to get another dog. I think I'll throw this out to the family. See what they think.

I am off work on Friday and I'd love to go. Saturday is out because I have a 5k to run. You'd better double check though. I was up there last weekend and Tonto was closed north of 260. You couldn't even drive up to the hatchery.

I have the North Face Blue Kazoo and have used it for over 10 years. It works well for me. It has been drenched many times and always bounces back nicely. My next bag will probably be the Cat's Meow. As the years have gone by I'm finding I'd prefer a slightly wider cut

Snick33 is right. Tonto north of 260 is closed. The area he is talking about is Apache Sitegraves and is open but with restrictions. The area around Young rarely closes. You can go to the regions section and check out their website if you have any doubts. I agree, it is pretty up there.

Things didn't really fall together until the older ...
