Re: RS Route + Triplog

I used the Note function up at Glacier (to note that we had lunch at the old Three Mile Cabin Trail), but only one time. I should have used it more but I only just noticed it. I haven't seen it translated as I haven't uploaded any of those routes yet. Anyway, I think I'll like it.

Re: Woodbury Fire - Superstition Wilderness

I just found the "smoke" map and I think the smoke was from the Woodbury fire as the Badger Springs wasn't burning anywhere that we could see.

Re: Woodbury Fire - Superstition Wilderness

not sure why we were seeing so much smoke (a light layer) driving in on the 17 an hour ago. Would it have spread that far east?

Re: Woodbury Fire - Superstition Wilderness

this is pretty amazing video. I don't know if the link will work though but it's quite the video (showed a retardant drop, a huge smoke bloom, a raging fire and black smoke. It was quite something): https://www.facebook.com/FOX10Phoenix/videos/2293544544086249/UzpfSTE1MTIxMjQ1ODM6MTAxNTcxNDE5MjA4MDQ...

Re: Woodbury Fire - Superstition Wilderness

I've been watching the air activity via this link: https://www.flightradar24.com/N261GB/20eec145 When you click on the plane above the Supes, in this case, N261GB you can see his flight pattern... very cool. and right now there are two helos up too. I assume someone has posted this link which I find...

Re: Woodbury Fire - Superstition Wilderness

saw this on the FB Supes page: from a Steve Jorgensen 4 hrs I have a friend who works for the Forest Service. He says they are talking about burning out Hwy 88 from Canyon Lake to Roosevelt to keep the fire from jumping the Salt River to the Four Peaks side. Jim Lewis: Backburnes may start this even...

Re: Choices among North Rim Hikes

Cape Final for sure. Cape Royal is great toward sunset. Also, you can to that little https://hikearizona.com/decoder.php?ZTN=810 from the Lodge and of course include https://hikearizona.com/decoder.php?ZTN=418. Between Widforss and Uncle Jim I'm not sure which I would prefer but probably Uncle Jim f...

@joebartels
Yep, this will work just fine: why not tap triplog then finish it on a desktop/laptop with stats filled in and route included?

Re: RS Route + Triplog

A work in progress, months in development surfacing recently - keeping HAZ Fresh Example is urban overkill for most and not the most becoming format. Nevertheless this example triplog touches on key points. For those that review the following in full I'm open to thoughts and/or ideas Aside from pos...

Re: Mindless weather chit chat

I just don't know where I should go to get some zoom pics of the snow tomorrow after work (3ish). I usually go up to Outlaw Golf Course for the Mazzies or Silly Mountain for Supes and of course the windmill for Picketpost. I'd like to try something new. Any ideas?

Re: Arizona Trail - AWARDS and recognition

Wendy sent me the link to the Volunteer and Partner Awards page that goes back to 2016. Here you can also see pictures of our previous HAZ winners. https://aztrail.org/the-ata/volunteer-and-partner-awards/ It also includes some of the forest rangers that have been of great help as well as Business P...

Re: Arizona Trail - AWARDS and recognition

@TheMazzicMan why thank you, so nice of you to say. I help when I can. Let me add by showing everyone some of the projects coming up. You can go to the ATA Work Event Calendar https://aztrail.org/events/calendar/ to see if and when any of these are scheduled: 1. Canelo Hills Singletrack - Passages ...

Arizona Trail - AWARDS and recognition

I think we need to have a topic for fellow HAZers that get awards via the Arizona National Scenic Trail. At the Feb 2019 ATA Annual Meeting (celebrating the 25th of this event); a few HAZers got Volunteer Awards for 2018 including: Roger Smith @scatdaddy and Sandy Fortner @sandyfortner and Donovan W...

Re: AZT in a Day!

2019 is scheduled for October 12th. Put it on your calendar. We didn't quite get it all in 2018 so let's see if we can help out in 2019. On October 6th, 2018 at least 796 people were out on the Arizona National Scenic Trail. There were 57 mountain bikers, 34 equestrians, and 705 runners and hikers. ...

Re: 8th Annual New Year's Day Peak Bag

Pam, per our discussion, I will be helping out at Wayne's house all day trying to get it ready for sale (Mia just wants to finally get it done) and brother Rick is coming over later to set up my amazon fire stick; whatever that is. Not sure if the fire stick comes with Fireball Whiskey but I got a w...

Re: 8th Annual New Year's Day Peak Bag

I'm bringing some huckleberry taffy and I have extra cookies my cousin Connie baked. She went on a binge. Looking forward to seeing everyone. Looks like it could start out a little nippy.
